<p>We both laughed at that, but it was not far from the truth. Not just for me, but as I have learned from helping so many other obese women it is a common theme among the obese. None of us feel that we can trust food because we cannot trust ourselves with it. It has been the cause of all our weight problems, not actual food, but our unhealthy relationship with it. For this reason we come to fear it.</p>
<p>The problem is that for those of us who have grown up with obesity the idea of how to eat like a normal person is outside our realm of understanding . We only know two modes of eating: dieting and overeating. The only time we seem to be able to control our eating is when on a structured diet, but that structure soon becomes a prison and we run to our other method of nutrition, the one that keeps us obese. Food has just never worked for us.</p>
<p>One of the first things that becomes very clear when new obese clients start my program, and what they actually all voice is: &#8220;I don&#8217;t know how to eat like a regular person.&#8221; When I tell them I want them to eat 1800 calories their first two weeks to find out what their true maintenance diet will look like, their eyes pop, their voices quake, and they stammer: &#8220;1800 calories, that is insane. I will gain weight.&#8221; It takes me a while to convince them otherwise.</p>
<p>I check their food every day. The first week is always predictable. The food logs are packed with diet type foods in quantities that wouldn&#8217;t satisfy a child. The calories rarely come close to the 1800. For that matter they rarely reach 1500. When I start to question the choices they actually defend the food saying they prefer it to other &#8220;real&#8221; food. After a long lecture on what we are trying to accomplish the second week is better, but it still takes a while to get them to give in to foods they feared all their lives and to eat enough to feel sated before leaving the dinner table.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t believe there is anyone diet that works for everyone. We all have different likes and dislikes and our bodies react to certain foods in both positive and negative ways. Some of us do better with low fat, some thrive on higher fats. Some of us are insulin resistant with some foods spiking our blood sugar while others can eat what they want. We also have different appetites that dictate if we are grazers or three meal a day type of eaters. There is no one right or wrong way to eat. Yet most obese men and women feel they have to conform to dieting standards which have always been about deprivation and obsession. </p>
<p>That fear of eating that has been hammered into us all these years has to be tackled. The only way to do that is to eat. Sounds simple enough, but in my experience I have found it is harder to get people to eat then it is to get them to diet. Why? Because all we know is deprivation or guilt. </p>
<p>When I start a new client on this program, their first week proves how true the above statement is. They eat tentatively. The foods tend to come from their dieting history, the amounts minimal. I pick out these dieting foods and ask why they chose to eat them. Their answer is surprising. Not only was the food not satisfying, but oftentimes they ate food they didn&#8217;t like because that is what their dieting brain told them was the only acceptable choice. Now, there are diets out there on the market that promote lots of eating choices. They work for some, but the problem is they are small amounts for the calories, and most obese men and women need bigger servings, and when they eat higher fat, sugar, or salted foods, cravings dictate that one serving is never enough. That creates more fear of food, and that fear limits viable choices in their idea of what they can and cannot eat for weight loss. I make it clear, I do not want to see those diet foods in their menu again. Panic ensues. </p>
<p>It is a process, a hand holding to calm their nerves and gain their trust that it is okay to eat food as long as they understand that each choice they make needs to be seen as a whole, and it needs to work with them as a person. Once they see that they really can eat 1800 calories a day without gaining weight they are amazed. Amazed that they are now eating foods they saw as detrimental to their dieting cause, and eating those foods in amounts they find satisfying.</p>
<p>It is this fear of food, this fear of not being able to stick to a diet, this fear that food controls us and not the other way around that keeps the obese obese. Food is neither enemy nor lover. It needs to become a partner in the obese person&#8217;s quest for health and well-being.</p>

<p>Does the safety of your drinking water worry you? If it does maybe you&#8217;ve spent some time thinking about getting a water filter. There&#8217;s so many filters to choose from it&#8217;s difficult deciding which is the best water filter.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s quite a few things you need to think about before you choose a water filter, and here&#8217;s a few of them.</p>
<p>One of the most popular water filters is a carbon water filter, or what is also called an AC filter, or activated carbon filter.</p>
<p>And you also need to consider what type of system you need for your house. You can get faucet water filters or even water filters for the entire house. A whole house water filter can be ideal for anyone who wants to have clean water to wash in and shower in and to use for the clothes as well as drink. Whole house filters can come in different types, including carbon.</p>
<p>Even if you just want to filter some drinking water you have options. You could get a simple pitcher water filter, where you pour your water in and the water filters through, and you pour the water into a glass. And you can get faucet water filters where all you have to do is to turn the tap on.</p>
<p>A pitcher water filter works fine, but you only filter a small amount of water and so it&#8217;s a little slow if you want plenty of clean water. It filters through the pitcher so you can&#8217;t just decide to grab some water, pour it into the pitcher and there it is, ready. But pitcher filters are cheap.</p>
<p>Those are some of the options available to you. There&#8217;s plenty more, you need to do some research. Different needs require different water filters, and budget is always a consideration too. But eventually you&#8217;ll end up with healthy clean water to drink.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s no doubt that there are things in your water that you don&#8217;t want to be drinking, and that it&#8217;s perfectly possible to filter them out, you just need the right water filter.</p>

<p>You may have wanted to start a weight loss diet many times in the past. But if it appeared to be too much work or too hard to figure out, maybe you decided against it. Listening to some of the dieting advice that&#8217;s so readily available, you&#8217;ll find that there are a lot of myths. Hopefully, we can dispel some of them here.</p>
<p><span id="more-527"></span></p>
<p>1. One of the most common myths is that you can drop pounds quickly just by a severe cutback in food and calorie intake. As dieting methods go, this is pretty much the hardest on your health. Because your system believes there&#8217;s a shortage of food, it won&#8217;t let go of its fat very easily.</p>
<p>2. In our search for quick weight loss, another myth will instruct us to eat just a certain kind of food. More eating binges have been caused by the latest single-food fad diet than anything out there. Following dangerous fad diets means your body&#8217;s not getting the necessary nutrients it needs to fight off illnesses and stay healthy.</p>
<p>3. Perhaps you&#8217;ve read that you must never stray from your eating plan, even the tiniest bit. And if you do, you must pay the price by doubling up on your workouts. This is totally wrong. Really, you can have that piece of chocolate cake occasionally. It&#8217;s only necessary that you cut back on your calories for a day or two. There&#8217;s really no need to exercise for hours just to compensate for one little treat.</p>
<p>4. One myth you may hear is the one that says you can&#8217;t eat before you go to bed, because you&#8217;ll get fat in your sleep. This just isn&#8217;t the case, since dieting only involves healthy eating and restricting your daily calorie consumption. If you have a small snack before bedtime, it won&#8217;t have any real impact. Unless, of course, it&#8217;s a 5-course meal or an entire frozen cheesecake.</p>
<p>5. How about the one that says you can&#8217;t eat anything between meals? Snacks are actually part of a healthy eating style. Consume several mini meals through your day and your hunger won&#8217;t overwhelm you. When you cut out between meal snacks, you become ravenous before it&#8217;s time for the next meal. This can cause you to eat a lot more than you really need just to satisfy your hunger.</p>
<p>6. One more myth warns against consuming dairy products, for the reason that they&#8217;re highly fattening. However, don&#8217;t ban dairy products from your refrigerator, because they are loaded with healthy substances that your body needs. There are even studies that show a correlation between weight loss and eating dairy products on a daily basis. However, watch how much you consume and opt for low fat selections.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t be taken in by the vast number of weight loss myths you read about on the internet. Nutritious, mindful eating along with regular exercise can be the combination that will help you with your healthy weight loss.</p>

<p>Making sure you get enough water to drink is also vital. A lot of people walk around dehydrated, and don&#8217;t even know it. Replacing those sodas with a glass of water can make a big caloric dent in your diet, and adequate water can make you feel full. </p>
<p>If you get fewer than seven hours of sleep nightly, you should make more of an effort to get enough rest. Proper sleeping habits will give you increased energy, as well as keeping your metabolism elevated. </p>
<p>You should definitely eat more veggies and fruits. Most diet plans include this advice, and there&#8217;s a valid reason: it works!Eating a lot of fruits and veggies will give you a lot of fiber, and up your water intake, and they&#8217;ll make you feel a lot fuller for less calories than many other foods. Whole grains keep you full a lot longer, for relatively few calories. Choose whole-wheat breads and pastas, rather than the refined carb-laden varieties.</p>
<p>Opt for lean proteins when possible, and reduce the amount of meat you eat. Lean meat and beans provide protein without all the fat. When you do have meat, grill it or saute it to reduce fat. </p>
<p>There are some foods that boost metabolism naturally. Oatmeal, spicy foods, and green tea will all raise your body&#8217;s natural calorie-burning abilities. Incorporate them into your diet for a natural calorie-burning boost.</p>
<p>When you&#8217;ve done these basic things, it will be much easier for you to naturally lose weight quickly. While this plan isn&#8217;t a &#8220;cure all&#8221;, it will provide steady weight loss if you stick with it.</p>

<p>If our health starts to go downhill, however, our body may be on our mind on a constant basis. It&#8217;s preferable that we take good care of our bodies prior to anything going awry rather than trying to fix things when they go wrong.</p>

<p>Great news!  If you&#8217;ve been scouring the internet looking for articles on, &#8220;how to speed up my metabolism&#8221; you found the right place.  Let&#8217;s face it, for weight loss the metabolism is where it&#8217;s at.  And speeding it up isn&#8217;t as hard as you might think.</p>
<p><span id="more-523"></span></p>
<p>To begin, here&#8217;s a brief definition of what I mean by metabolism. When you eat, your body must do something with the food&#8230;and that&#8217;s your metabolism. You could rephrase the question &#8220;How to speed up my metabolism?&#8221;, as &#8220;How can my body better use my food?&#8221;</p>
<p>When you eat, you take in calories.  Your body must do something with those calories.  If you need some energy, they are converted into energy and burned away.  If all of your energy needs are handled, the calories are converted into fat and stored for a &#8220;rainy day&#8221;. </p>
<p>The exciting thing is, anyone can lose weight.  You must, it&#8217;s a scientific given.  All that&#8217;s required, is to burn off more calories than you eat.  So by eating less than you&#8217;re burning, you are not adding to your stores of fat but actually taking away.</p>
<p>This is metabolism.  If it&#8217;s what we commonly think of as &#8220;fast&#8221;, we&#8217;re just saying that were burning off all of our calories and we are losing a little weight.  If it&#8217;s what we commonly think of as &#8220;slow&#8221;, that simply means that we are storing our excess calories as fat and we are gaining weight.  If it&#8217;s just right, (with these three choices, it feels like I&#8217;m telling the story of &#8220;Goldilocks and the Three Bears&#8221;) we don&#8217;t gain or lose any weight but remain the same.</p>
<p>So, to &#8220;speed up my metabolism&#8221;, we need to start burning off more of our calories. There are two basic ways to do this.  First, we can start eating fewer calories or start getting our calories from more &#8220;usable&#8221; sources. And second, we can start exercising more, which will burn off calories. </p>
<p>In the eating less category, we have to be very careful.  It seems counterintuitive, but by eating less we could actually be setting ourselves up for more weight gain.  If you start to eat too little, your body thinks it is starving and will cut back on the energy you consume.  Thus, slowing down your metabolism.</p>
<p>Want to get ramped up into high gear, and kick start your metabolism?  Here is a way to take in fewer calories while making your body believe you are getting enough.</p>
<p>My all time favorite way to accomplish this miracle, is to make sure that I eat a lot of negative calorie foods.</p>
<p>When you eat, you take in a certain number of calories.  But you also use a certain number of calories in digestion.  When the number of calories used in digestion is larger than the number of calories you get by eating, that is a negative calorie food.  Here&#8217;s an example, 100 g of broccoli is about 25 calories.  However, digesting it uses about 80 calories.  So, every time you eat broccoli you have a net loss of 55 calories!  Plus, your body is tricked into thinking you&#8217;re getting enough calories so it doesn&#8217;t slow down your metabolism.  Pretty cool, eh?</p>
<p>In the world of fruits and vegetables, there are quite a few negative calorie options. Work them into your diet - at the same time, pay attention to your portion sizes on your other foods, and start a basic exercise program. And you won&#8217;t be able to avoid losing weight.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s hard to find someone in today&#8217;s society that doesn&#8217;t have some worries about their health and how much they weigh. <p>Why not choose healthy snacks instead of sweet ones at home too? To become healthy and lose fat the natural way, we need to break the cycle. It actually is possible.</p>
<p>One of the initial actions that individuals must do when they want to lose weight is to change some of their habits. This can be very tough, especially if you have been eating in a certain way for quite some time. </p>
<p>Many individuals are surprisingly dependent on bad things like sugar, aspartame, caffeine and bad carbs. Control over your health is far more easier if you stop your dependencies. If you are having a hard time with this, try to break the bad cycle by going cold turkey for three days. </p>
<p>Once you are free of the poor eating habits, you must incorporate healthy ones. Although it is not necessary for you to eat perfectly all the time, you must make sure that you stick with a nutritious eating program for at least a month. </p>
<p>Why is this the case? This is because of the time it takes you to get used to this habit. If you follow a diet that is both healthy and balanced for one month, it will become your regular way of eating.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s more required for a good dietary program. You have to be certain that you eat the right foods. In order to determine your sugar level, the glycemic index should be low. </p>
<p>Make sure that you are eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables everyday. It&#8217;s most important that you consume lots of water with a dash of sea salt added. It does need some drive on your part but that effort will be well worth it when you see your health and slim figure return.</p>

<p>For many many years, going back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, people have used presses to extract olive oil from the olive, the press is used to separate the olive oil and vegetation water from the solid body of the olive. Once these two have been separated, a decanter is used to separate the oil from the water. In able to gain a fine olive oil, there is a process that must be used before the olive is pressed.</p>

<p>After the olive harvest has taken place, the olives are placed under a millstone or ground stone for thirty to forty minutes to ground them to a paste called olive paste. The olives are left under the stone for this amount of time to achieve the flavor they need and to form large olive oil drops. The aromas that the olive enzymes let out are also need to create a better aroma for the oil. </p>
<p>Once the olives have been grounded the paste is placed on fiber disks. These fiber disks are stacked one on top of another and put into the olive press. Pressure is then placed onto the disks, compacting the olive paste and percolating the olive liquid and vegetation water. To make this process a lot less complicated, water is run down the sides of the press to facilitate the percolating process.</p>
<p>When the pressing process is over the two liquids are placed in a traditional decanter to separate them, although this process can also be done using a vertical centrifuge. This process separates the two liquids a lot faster then when using a traditional decanter thus completing the process of olive oil extraction a lot quicker.</p>
<p>Every time the process of extracting oil from the olives all of the machines must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. This is because any paste or oils left on the machines can ferment and therefore contaminate any new oils that will be done in the future. After the cleaning is finished, a final inspection will take place to make sure they are fully disinfected. </p>
<p>There are both advantages and disadvantages when using this method of extraction to make olive oil. The advantages are that there is a better grinding of the olives and due to less water usage; the oil is pomaced a lot easier. The difficult cleaning process, a wider time between the harvest and the pressing of the olives and the amount of manual labor are some of the disadvantages.</p>
