Making A Great Cup Of Coffee

I’m sure that you’ve had a good cup of coffee and bad cups of coffee and perhaps you haven’t even had a great cup of coffee because you are so used to the no so good stuff you do not know the difference. Let’s just say that when you eventually have that good cup of coffee, you will be hooked.

A lot of people who are looking to create the best cup of coffee first look at the actual blend and brand that they are using. This may be a good thing to look at but really the first thing that you should analyze is the water that you are using to brew the coffee. Good clean water, even bottled, makes all the difference. After all, a cup of coffee is made up mostly of water.

If you do not want to use bottled water, there are excellent water filters available now that will make the water absolutely perfect for brewing coffee. The main thing is that you want to have water free of any minerals, impurities and other things that would affect the taste. Also, the fresher the water is, the better.

The coffee maker that you choose should always be as clean as possible. Any remaining grounds and other things from previous uses will affect the taste negatively. A dirty machine will definitely ruin a good brew.

The next thing to look at is the coffee itself. Always choose the best quality that you can afford in whole beans and store them in an air tight container or bag.

Using whole bean and grinding it yourself is better because the coffee oils in the bean are releases just before brewing. Pre-gound coffees have had a chance to sit in its ground state and the oils tend to dry up this way. If you must use preground, which I admit is more convenient, make sure it is stored in an air tight container as well. Whole coffee beans will also stay fresher a lot longer as long as they are stored properly. Never store coffee in a fridge or freezer.

When grinding coffee, only grind as much as you need for that particular time. Always make sure that you keep your grinder clean as well.

Different types of coffee machines perform best with the specific types of grinds that they need. Make sure to read any instructions on coffee makers that you use and adhere to what they say. This will make a huge difference in the success of your brew.
